Expanding Horizons: Atomos at NAB 2026

Atomos arrived at NAB 2026 with its most extensive product lineup to date, signaling a strategic shift under CEO Peter Barber. The company is diversifying beyond its established focus on on-camera monitoring solutions. Central to this pivot is the debut of the Sumo PRO19, a 19-inch 4K HDR monitor-recorder-switcher designed for professionals in multicamera production and on-set workflows. This flagship product underscores Atomos' commitment to advancing video production technology.

Introducing the Sumo PRO19

The Sumo PRO19 stands out with its 3840 x 2160 resolution display, offering 1200 nits brightness and high color accuracy with 100% Rec.709 and 99% DCI-P3 coverage. Its ability to record up to 8Kp30 RAW and manage four simultaneous ISO feeds at up to 1080p60 elevates its utility in demanding workflows. Supported formats include Apple ProRes RAW, Avid DNxHD/DNxHR, and H.265, with media options spanning CFexpress Type B and external USB-C storage solutions.

Connectivity and Control Features

Comprehensive connectivity is a hallmark of the Sumo PRO19, which boasts 2 x 12G-SDI inputs, HDMI 2.0 in/out, and WiFi 6E capabilities. Dual balanced XLR audio inputs with 48V phantom power further enhance its versatility. Notably, the device enables camera control via its responsive touchscreen, allowing users to manage ISO, shutter, aperture, and white balance settings on various mirrorless cameras. Additional features include touch-to-focus, AirGlu timecode synchronization, and built-in NDI HX3 support for seamless network integration.

Advanced Monitoring Suite

The Sumo PRO19 incorporates a comprehensive suite of monitoring tools. These include EL Zone false color, waveform, RGB parade, vectorscope, and focus peaking. It also supports cube LUTs for precise color grading. Six assignable front-panel buttons allow for quick access to these tools, enhancing efficiency during complex video production workflows. Direct cloud upload to ATOMOSphere, Frame.io, and Dropbox further streamlines post-production processes.

Shogun AV Fly Pack and ATOMOSphere Enhancements

In addition to the Sumo PRO19, Atomos showcased the Shogun AV19, now accompanied by the new Shogun AV Fly Pack. This 7RU rack unit accessory is designed for easy mobile deployment, making it suitable for on-the-go production environments. ATOMOSphere, the company's cloud-based ecosystem, received significant upgrades, offering enhanced collaboration and storage solutions for modern content creators.

Pricing and Availability

The Sumo PRO19 is priced at $2,899 and is set to ship in early June 2026. Its aluminum chassis features a built-in carry handle and removable desktop feet, ensuring portability and durability. With its versatile feature set, the Sumo PRO19 is poised to become a cornerstone for professionals demanding high performance in live production and post-production workflows.
