Advancements in Planetcast's Integrated Technology Portfolio
At NAB 2026, Planetcast unveiled significant updates to its integrated technology portfolio, catering to large-scale media operations. The company has built on its in-house platforms, such as MediaHQ, Contido, CloudX, ReCaster, and BATS, to transition from standalone products to a unified framework. This shift is aimed at streamlining content management, playout, distribution, and monetization. These changes are designed to provide broadcasters and content owners with greater operational flexibility and efficiency.
Focus on Live and Multiplatform Media Operations
Planetcast's advancements reflect its growing impact on live and multiplatform media workflows. Supporting over 450 channels across 50 leading media brands globally, the company reaches 1.3 billion viewers. Enhancements include IP-based live sports workflows, expanded global channel deployments, and optimizations driven by hybrid cloud and automation technologies. These updates enable broadcasters to scale their operations efficiently while adapting to the demands of both linear and streaming environments.
ReCaster Platform Enhancements for Signal Transport
The ReCaster platform, Planetcast's IP-based signal transport solution, now incorporates hybrid deployment models. It supports advanced protocols such as SRT, RIST, and UDP, allowing broadcasters to deliver live content with latency as low as 2500ms. With support for both SPTS and MPTS workflows, along with mixed-mode operations, ReCaster ensures flexibility for large-scale multidestination distribution. Currently, the platform is utilized by over 50 customers in regions such as Asia, the Middle East, and the Caribbean.
Hybrid Cloud and Automation Driving Efficiency
One of the key highlights at NAB 2026 was Planetcast's emphasis on hybrid cloud and automation. These technologies are instrumental in optimizing workflows by reducing manual intervention and streamlining content delivery processes. The integration of cloud-based solutions with on-premises infrastructure offers a balanced approach that caters to the diverse needs of broadcasters and content creators.
Expanded Capabilities for Live Sports and OTT Delivery
Planetcast's updates also focus on enhancing live sports workflows and OTT delivery capabilities. For instance, beIN SPORTS Asia Pacific has adopted CloudX and ReCaster to facilitate dynamic live sports operations on a global scale. These tools offer broadcasters the ability to manage and distribute content across multiple platforms efficiently, ensuring high-quality viewer experiences even in complex environments.
